Father/Son Camping Trip
Well, Zack and I just returned from our annual father/son camping trip in the beautiful Virginia Lakes area. We camped at Trumble Lake from Wednesday to Saturday with other people from our church. There were about 40 of us, which made it fun. We basically spent most of our time fishing and spending quality time together - talking about the things of the Lord. It is a unique time that I think we are going to cherish for years to come.
During this trip, I realized the similarities that fishing and sin have. We are the fish. Satan is a master fisherman, baiting the hook with the perfect bait (or temptation). We nibble a little, testing to see if it tastes good. Then, we take a bite, not realizing the consequences until its too late - we've fallen into sin! We've been deceived, hooked! What an analogy! This made great conversation with Zack and kicked me between the eyes to beware of the bait that the prince of darkness has placed before me so that I can avoid being deceived. After thinking and talking about this on Thursday, I heard one of the guys say at dinner, "I can handle everything except temptation." LOL!
Last year, I got violently ill from the altitude - Trumble Lake is about 9600 ft above sea level. So, this year, I took precautions, and took my time adjusting to the altitude. Thankfully, I adjusted and did not get sick this year! The fishing was awesome! Zack is quite the fisherman - beating me on the total fish count: 11 fish to my 5 fish. However, let the record also state that I had the biggest fish! :) Anyways, here's some pics from our time together. We are already looking forward to next year! Thanks for checking it out!
Leaving at 5:15am

4th of July at Zuma Beach
Who would have thought Zuma Beach would be so crowded? So, I decided to make it interesting by bringing our new "Mammoth Beach Ball" to the beach. It seemed like a great idea at the time, but, turned out that "Mammoth Beach Ball" doesn't like wind. "Mammoth Beach Ball" turned into "Mammoth Runaway Beach Ball" after the wind sent it flying into everyone between Zuma 3-1/2 and Zuma 5. Hilarious - Me running after a giant beach ball as it pounds everyone in its path for about 150 yards. The entire time I'm chasing after it, I hear screaming and "get outta the way!", "Watch it", "Look out!".... just to name a few. Anyways, maybe next time I'll do it when the wind is a bit calmer! Melissa was quick enough to snap a few photos of the incident as it happened! Thanks babe! I love you!
Yep, that's me chasing the runaway beach ball
